Nigeria has been in the headlines recently over terrorist violence. Christians in Nigeria have been victims of attacks by terrorists using machetes and guns, and dozens of churches have been bombed. In the wake of this violence, many have not been able to receive proper care for wounds and have experienced limb loss as a result. There is very little to no prosthetic care available in Nigeria.
We were able to partner with an organization that helps victims of Islamic terrorism, Voice of The Martyrs. Since January 2013, we have been able to set up a prosthetic clinic in Nigeria and treat dozens of victims as well as local amputees not involved in the terrorism crisis. We are also training a small group of Nigerians to be able to provide skilled prosthetic care locally.
