Project Nigeria: Prosthetic care for victims of crisis
Nigeria has been in the headlines recently over terrorist violence. Christians in Nigeria have been victims of attacks by terrorists using machetes and guns, and dozens of churches have been bombed. In the wake of this violence, many have not been able to receive proper care for wounds and have experienced limb loss as a result. There is very little to no prosthetic care available in Nigeria.
Since January 2013, we have been able to set up a prosthetic clinic in Nigeria and treat dozens of victims as well as local amputees not involved in the terrorism crisis. We are also training a small group of Nigerians to be able to provide skilled prosthetic care locally.
We are also able to re-purpose used prosthetic components, donated prosthetic components are appreciated and often tax deductible. We have partnered with a church for the purpose. Donations can be dropped off at any Progressive Prosthetics location, or sent to:
